    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

Some services are defined as "Sticky" by the software developer, or are launched off of an intent (like receiving a phone call). So you'll find that many services or apps won't stay closed.

However, you shouldn't need to be killing them off unless you're running Android 2.1 or below. Just cause they say it's running, doesn't mean it's actually wasting any power or similar. Most of the time it's just cached.

  3. If you are using a task killer to close them, you are wasting your time. Get rid of the task killer. Please read through this thread.

Why You Don't Need a Task Killer.

What method do you use to determine if an app is closed or not? If you use the long tap on the home button, the apps that are listed there may or may not actually be running. It just shows the last several apps you used, like a history of apps you used. They may be closed or not running.

im using Go Launcher, Then I open the apps and go to "Running". I've been closing them from there, but when I go back to it the sames apps Ive closed are "running" again..

I'm not familiar with Go Launcher. However, Android apps that have nothing to do should not actually running. They may simply be cached so that the next time you need to use the app, it is already loaded instead of having to reload it.

There is a thread about task killers with discussions on how Android manages apps. The people there and links from that thread give a better explanation.

Even though they say they are running, they aren't, they are just cached. Read that link about task killers, you will learn a lot about how android works. When you kill apps, the OS sees a lot of open memory, and will just re-cache those apps, thus causing an endless cycle. Don't worry about it, just let android manage its memory the way it wants to.
  8. If it's a unnecessary app that you don't even want, if you close it, that should be it. Lots of complaints about Doubletwist starting service when you don't even want the stupid thing. Extra apps like that should be YOUR choice - not what the carrier, phone mfg, or developer want. If you want those services, then the advice is apt. If you DON'T want them at all, then you have to root the phone which isn't altogether fair.
